The project focuses on the phenomenon of overtourism, its causes, impacts as well as possible solutions for mitigating and preventing its negative effects at destination level. The project also includes an analysis of best practice solutions applied in Europe and worldwide as well as the development of a set of indicators in order to measure overtourism at destination level. A compendium will be created, supporting stakeholders in destinations affected by, or at risk of, overtourism and the project results will be presented to stakeholders in several workshops and discussed together. Emerging overtourism destinations caused by domestic tourism and massive numbers of day trips as a consequence of the Covid-19 crisis will be taken into account as well.
