About my work

Dagmar Lund-Durlacher

I have been advocating for more sustainability in tourism since I started my academic tourism career.  My research, writings and lectures have always aimed to advance sustainable development in tourism and, above all, to demonstrate corporate sustainability and responsibility as a transformative force for sustainable development. Topics such as fairness and inclusion, circular economy, resource efficiency, biodiversity and climate protection as well as transformation processes in tourism businesses and destinations are the focus of my research and consulting activities.

I have founded the Institute for Tourism Sustainability to provide a platform for like-minded people who want to bring more sustainability into the tourism industry. Our work is internationally oriented but has a strong regional focus through the involvement of regional experts and stakeholders. The projects are science based and are worked on in cooperation with strong interdisciplinary teams. The work processes are open and inclusive and enable joint learning processes that will lead to innovative and creative solutions and results.

„The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity.“
